D.A.F.T. (The Derbyshire Branch of The Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice) has grown from the interest in systemic practice and family therapy in and around Derbyshire over the last 16 years or so. It follows on from the growth of the local family therapy and systemic practice training programmes, which are now held at the University of Derby, and have seen over 250 graduates, successfully sharing their ideas within a range of agencies locally.
Free training
Within the inclusive Derbyshire tradition, we very much welcome anybody in and around Derbyshire who would like to join us to share ideas and practice. Our main aim is to encourage an interest in working therapeutically, including ‘non therapeutic’ situations such as statutory work, assessment, intake and review. This includes working with individuals, couples, families and groups. It relates to children, young people, adults and older adults. The organising committee arrange the bi monthly lunch time workshops and also promote more formal training events in the area.
Meetings
D.A.F.T. is now in its 8th year, and we meet every two months, on Fridays, 12.30pm to 2.00pm. See 2010 details . The meetings are free to any visitors who would like to come along to decide if they would like to go D.A.F.T. more often.
